SPROUT WRITTEN AND ILLUSTRATED BY M.D. OSBORNE Life can be hard when you're a smaller-than-average seven-year-old living in a big city with two older brothers. Little Ernie accompanies his 13-year-old brother Ike around Chicago as Ike tries to earn money by playing the drums on an upside-down plastic container. Bored and left on his own, Ernie meets an Italian gardener who shows him the beauty and mystery that can be found in growing and caring for plants. But, Ike is suspicious of the gardener, and Ernie is in trouble for talking to a stranger. And that's just the beginning as the characters explore what it is that makes each other tick.
